Completely agree with you. But since the number of IM users on windows >> number of users on linux, messenger on windows has the highest priority. But that is no excuse to have a mediocre messenger on Linux. I think we should have a cool messenger on Linux also. May be there is a surprise in store soon for Mac and Linux users.
I personally use GAIM on Linux. You should probably try it out if Y! Messenger on Linux is not very appealing to you.
PS: These are just my views and not in anyways linked with what Yahoo! has to say about messenger on Linux.
